Johan Viljoen

Director of DHPI

Johan Viljoen has been the Director of Denis Hurley Peace Institute since April 2017. He worked as Country Director for Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) from 2015 to 2017, implementing refugee relief programmes for UNHCR in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Prior to that he was the Programme Manager of the SACBC AIDS Office for 15 years, responsible for the SACBC ARV treatment program, which provided treatment to more than 45 000 people in 22 sites countrywide.

Reabetswe Tloubatla

Researcher

Reabetswe has a degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of South Africa. She has extensive experience in refugee aid work, having worked for the Jesuit Refugee Service for a number of years. She is very involved in her community, volunteering as a host on a community radio station and other community activities. At DHPI she heads research and communication, with a special focus on the humanitarian conflict in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique and the displacement of peoples from their ancestral lands in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She also assists in the audio visual work done at Khanya house. She is currently continuing her education as an LLB student.
