At least ten people have been beheaded by armed groups in Cabo Delgado province. Figures confirm violent incursions, between Tuesday and Wednesday, all in villages administratively belonging to the district of Ancuabe, in the south of the province.

On Tuesday, August 30, between the villages Mariangone and Muaguide, two males were beheaded. In the same district, between Ntele and Mponge two more men were killed by beheading.

The regions between Mbonge and Naputha followed, where three people were beheaded, including a woman and two men. After these raids, the group managed to cross the road between Silva Macua and Metoro and, already in the woods of Uhanhapula, decapitated three people, including a woman and two men.

After these raids, the group crossed the road between Silva Macua and Metoro and, in the woods of Uhanhapula, killed at least two people found making traditional drink. Others, according to a report received, will have been captured by the gang.

On Wednesday, on the banks of the Megaruma River, three more people were beheaded. The beheaded were part of a wider group of people who have been farming in the region.

It is suspected that the attackers want to reach Chiure.

In Nacuale’s, on Tuesday, 70 houses and a truck carrying corn were burned.

The latest reports have once again reinforced the idea that insurgents have in recent times managed to regroup for new attacks that put the population and the Defence and Security Forces at risk.
